Here is an incredible bout between two legends.

You may want to pay attention to each fighters footwork. Neither ever cross their legs or ever lose the "triangle" in their stance, even when moving.
Particularly Ole (in the blue shorts) will step forward with his rear leg and drop into his opposite stance (the foot work we call horse).  Advanced students may note the body and techniques lines up with his opponent's when he does so. 

Kru of Muay Thai Day: celebration on Sunday March 10th

Sunday March 10th, our community will celebrate Muay Thai Day (Kru Day), a day where we honour the art and those who teach and preserve it.

It will be held at Siam no1 (45 Densley), with a monk's blessing at 10am and then a celebration at 5pm. 

All students are encouraged to come out to the celebration, while it is mandatory for all seniors/fighters available. We are gathering to honour and appreciate our martial art and teachers.


There will be awards, exhibition bouts, and more. 

Traditionally, the day is March 17, but we will be celebrating at Siam no1 on March 10th.

Kaoponglek vs Mehdi Zatout (video)

Kaoponglek is one of the greatest fighters in the sport, and has been around for a long time. In this fight, he takes on French fighter Mehdi Zatout. Watch out for the timing on Kaoponglek's strikes...especially his elbows. He's able to place his weapons into all the right spots.

RIP Kru Yodtong Senanan

 

YMT students, it is with great regret that I inform you all that Grandmaster Yodthong has passed away, he was in his 70's and although he lived a full life, he passed too young.

For those of you who do not know who he is he was the gate keeper to Muay thai in Thailand. Kru Clifton, Kru Mikey and Ajahn knew him well and have relayed many of his teachings. Kru Yodtong was well known for many of the top champions he produced as well, such as Samart Payakaroon.

Tomorrow, at Kru David Crawley's in house event @ Siam no1, there will be a ceremony for the passing of Kru Yodtong just before the half time.
