Sparring and Fight Night event at YMT!

February 7 is another great night for Muay Thai with the Lion Fight 13 event!! Matt Embree will be back with the anticipated rematch against Kevin Ross! Another great fight to watch is Gaston Bolanos vs Chris Williams! And of course, the women's title bout.

YMT will be hosting a 'Fight Night' at the gym: the plan is to have a few of our affiliate gyms to come for sparring prior to the event, and we will have a projector to show the fight later in the night.

Details to come soon. We might ask for a small monetary participation (maybe $5/person) to cover for some of the food/snacks and drinks. And of course, anyone is more than welcome to bring something to eat :)

Never, ever give up - Diana Nyad (TED

Watch/listen to this incredible story and message!

Click:  http://www.ted.com/talks/diana_nyad_never_ever_give_up.html

About the speaker:
"For ten years (1969-1979), Diana Nyad was known as the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world. In 1979, she stroked the then-longest swim in history, making the 102.5-mile journey from the island of Bimini (Bahamas) to Florida. She also broke numerous world records, including what had been a 50-year mark for circling Manhattan Island, setting the new time of 7 hrs 57 min. She is a member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

At age 60, having not swum a stroke in decades, she began planning for her white whale of distance swims: the 110-mile ocean crossing between Cuba and Florida. She'd tried it once, in her 20s, and severe jellyfish attacks had defeated her then. But now, with a strong team and a new commitment to her vision, she stepped back into the salt. She spoke about this second attempt at TEDMED 2011. And at TEDWomen 2013, in December, she talks about how it feels to have finally done it.

Nyad appears as part of a weekly five-minute radio piece on sports for KCRW called "The Score" (heard during KCRW's broadcast of NPR's All Things Considered), as well as for the Marketplace radio program"

YMT's 100 Day Challenge!

Got something fun for us to do and help pass the winter blahs. Of course in this video they are doing pretty much anything they want. Ours will be restricted to Muay Thai.

Pick something you need to work on in Muay Thai, your swing kick, a particular footwork, even an exercise like push ups. Make sure it is something you can enjoy doing and that you truly want to see improvement with and are ready to work on it.

You will have to practice this for 100 days straight. There are no breaks or lulls.

Here is the website where I stole the concept from.:
https://giveit100.com/

Day 1 begins Monday January 13th, 2014 - Last day April 23th, 2014.

We will hold an event where the top videos documenting their experience get shown and winners are rewarded.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ENTER, PLEASE NOTIFY KRU AND WE WILL INVITE YOU TO THE ONLINE GROUP FOR SHARING VIDEOS :)

Rules:
You must be a current active member of YMT to participate.
You must post a video at least once every 2 weeks, more if you choose.
Your selection must be something Muay Thai related.
There are no extensions at all with the final date.
Please keep the videos under 1 minute as there will be many. They don't have to be long, your progress will show or not show at the end.

Once you have posted your challenge you are automatically entered and will be invited to a group for the posting. Once you post, you cannot pull out. Please do not share your videos anywhere else except on the page itself as we want to keep it a surprise for the awards. We will be posting the random video on the group and page to show progress of the contest
Have fun! Goodluck!
