The Eureka Hunt: food for thought
Here is an article from the New Yorker called "The Eureka Hunt" by Jonah Lehrer. I came across the article sourced from Sam Sheridan's book- "A Fighter's Mind".
The topic is about insight: those moments of inspired brilliance when new ideas or understandings spark in one's mind...whether in the heat of a fight, or solving a puzzle. Lehrer explores what some researchers think drives these experiences, and how the brain works to fascilitate this.
I found it particularly interesting, as a competitor and a student of martial arts.
He starts out by citing the infamous case of a band of smoke jumpers, with one of them being the only survivor due to a last minute "Eureka" moment.
