Yodsanklai vs Chike Lindsay (video)

Mymuaythai.com shared this earlier today, which I will also do since the video may not be up for much longer. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it while you still can.

Kru Jen referenced this fight on Saturday for a couple reasons...basic inside clinch control, the practicality of proper technical power, and good timing. Yodsanklai isn't someone who throws high volume...he isn't blasting fast 4 hit combinations over and over. He uses basic technique with power at the right time, and follows up according to the opportunity.

Tip/Quote of the day:

When training in class, focus on one improvement at a time. Sometimes we feel like we need to do it all and be perfect in one go. Take one aspect of the technique that your instructor has emphasized or commented on, and practice vigorously with it in mind. Focus on it AS you log in the repetitions.

Sparbecue was awesome yesterday!

Thank you Hadja and pc Steve for organizing, and pc David for manning the grill. Thanks to everyone who came out, brought food/drink to share and had a good time :)

Tip/Quote of the day:

Come prepared for training. In addition to your equipment and training wear, don't forget to bring water and an after training snack to help keep you feeling great.

With that said, YMT just got a slew of new equipment in (gloves, shin pads, heavy ropes)...so if you're short on anything, get them while they are hot! These usually sell out pretty fast.

Sanklai vs Taweesaklek (video)

The smaller Sanklai takes on the taller and stronger Taweesaklek. Sanklai plays a much more cautious game against the range and power of Taweesaklek.

Fun fact, Yodsanklai takes his fight name from his "hero": Sanklai.

Tip/Quote of the day:

When working basic technique, remember that the return is just as important as the delivery. Bring your weapon back into your stance with the same attention and vigor that you use to strike the target. This will keep you safer and allow you to follow up more efficiently.

Tip/Quote of the day:

Rest long and well enough to recuperate, not deteriorate. We must not only keep our bodies going, but our motivation and spirit.

Pornsaneh vs Pakorn 2 (video)

Many have seen the infamous Pornsanae vs Pakorn fight at Lumpinee stadium. If you haven't, go watch it NOW!! Seriously, go do that. We'll wait. If nothing else it was an incredibly entertaining battle that will make you cheer from your computer chair.

This fight is the rematch. Both fighters are very much stand and bang style, with neither looking to concede an inch. Porsanae is a little wilder, often swinging flurries of punches and then cracking down with his signature low kick. Pakorn tends to fight at a more even technical pace, but similarly loves cracking that right kick into his opponent. Enjoy the fireworks:

Tip/Quote of the day:

There will always be set backs that distract and demotivate you on your path to improvement. It is easy to become frustrated with all the things you CAN'T do. Focus instead on what you CAN do, and build from there. Be patient and stay strong.

Please make sure you hydrate all day today before coming to class as we are looking at hitting the mid 30's in a heatwave. Stay safe and for the love of... WEAR SUNSCREEN BEFORE YOU RUN. I bought some just for you guys, sitting on the display case at gym   - Kru Jen

Karuhat vs Michael Liewfat (videos)

Here's a must watch fight! Some big elbows thrown among other things, but overall an action packed match.

Also note the difference in each fighter's foot work!  Pay attention to the pros and cons of each:

Tip/Quote of the day:

"Working hard at the gym is important, but resting properly is just as important. The harder you go in training, the better quality of rest you are going to need to recharge yourself. Eat well and get a good night's sleep."

Namphon vs Dekkers II Rematch (video)

Here is the continuation of previous post:  the rematch between Namphon and Dekkers. Dekkers utilizes his elbows more in this fight, closing distance and staying busy. Namphon ups his pace from the last fight, and focuses on his kicks. Another great fight!

Dekkers vs Namphon 1 (video)

The cool thing about looking up Ramon Dekkers' fights is that he had many great wars and "rivalries" with some of the best Thai fighters during his time. So when you are searching for him on youtube, you pretty much can't lose.

This is the first in the series which he fought Namphon Nongkeepayahut. It's the sharp strikes of Dekkers vs the kicks and clinch work of Namphon. It's not just a battle of techniques but of wills:
